Community Guidelines
These rules keep Cobbic bold, brief, and (mostly) safe. They're short, clear, and enforced to protect people and the platform. Breaking them can lead to content removal, suspensions, or bans.
Core rules (TL;DR)
- No threats, violence, or organizing real-world harm.
- No sexual content involving minors — zero tolerance.
- No doxxing or sharing private info to shame/harm.
- No spam, scams, malware, or manipulation (bots/scrapers).
- Treat people like people — abuse/harassment is not allowed.
Allowed (what we encourage)
Creative, opinionated, and edgy content is welcome as long as it doesn't break the core rules.
- Hot takes, satire, and spirited debate that focus on ideas, not people.
- Memes, clips, and short-form media relevant to the conversation.
- Constructive critique and community-driven moderation.
Prohibited (examples)
- Harassment / Hate: Targeting people for protected traits or encouraging violence.
- Threats & planning harm: Any content that coordinates or threatens real-world violence.
- Doxxing: Posting someone's private data to intimidate or expose them.
- Sexual exploitation: Content sexualizing minors or facilitating exploitation.
- Illicit trade or instructions: Facilitating illegal transactions or providing instructions to commit crimes.
- Malicious content: Links or files that install malware, phishing, or scams.
- Copyright abuse: Repeatedly posting infringing content after takedown notices.
Moderation model
Moderation is multi-layered: thread creators and Hub moderators handle tone; platform moderators enforce safety and legal compliance. We use automated tools to surface abuse and human review for context.
What moderators may do
- Remove or redact content.
- Lock threads or pause timers during investigations.
- Warn, temporarily suspend, or permanently ban accounts.
- Reduce visibility (lower recommendation weight) or shadow-moderate in some cases.
Reporting
Use the in-thread report button or email the moderation team at mods@cobbic.com. Include thread ID/link, timestamp, a short description, and any screenshots.
Emergencies (immediate threats or child safety issues) should be reported to local authorities first and then to us so we can act quickly.
Appeals & transparency
If you disagree with a moderation action, appeal via the in-app form or email legal@cobbic.com. Provide the moderation notice ID, your account/email, and why you contest the action.
We try to have appeals reviewed by a different moderator than the original reviewer when practical. Some emergency safety actions may be fast-tracked and less reversible.
Enforcement levels
- Warning: Minor rule violations — content removed and user warned.
- Temporary suspension: Hours to days for serious or repeat violations.
- Long suspension / ban: Multi-day to permanent for severe or repeated abuse.
- Escalation to authorities: For threats, exploitation, or where required by law.
Moderator standards
Moderators are expected to act fairly, document actions, respect privacy, and avoid conflicts of interest. If a moderator abuses their powers, report it to legal@cobbic.com.
Practical tips
- Use clear titles and tags so threads find the right audience.
- When you disagree, attack ideas not people.
- Report violations instead of escalating with replies.
- Remember anonymity is not absolute — public content can be seen by anyone.
Legal & final notes
We comply with lawful requests from authorities and take immediate steps for threats, exploitation, or child safety concerns. For copyright takedowns, see the DMCA section in our Terms & Conditions. These guidelines are part of the platform terms and are enforceable under those Terms.
